This is to answer some questions that I have been asked about why I’ve decided to walk.
My walk will probably be best described as a pilgrimage, a personal journey for me to discover what it looks like to “love your neighbor as yourself”. I have no hidden agenda or ulterior motives behind what I am doing, merely a desire to seek a more meaningful life for myself and encourage others to do the same. I do not want to call this a religious journey because unfortunately that immediately sends bad vibes and that’s not what I’m looking for, this is an exploration of love. As I’ve stated before I am not interested in a theological debate on who has it all figured out because I certainly do not! We all share this life and the world we live in so let’s do our best to encourage and respect one another.
This is not a march; it is not political or religious. This has nothing to do with a race or gender movement, we are all human beings and everyone matters!
Now that we have that out of the way let’s talk about what it is. My main two objectives are to raise awareness by starting conversations on how to overcome the injustices that affect so many people such as clean water to drink, homelessness, human trafficking, and to also explore firsthand what it looks like to love your neighbor as yourself which would solve all of our issues!
- Over 700 million people do not have access to clean water
- More than 500,000 people are homeless on any given night in the United States alone
- Today over 20 million people are victims of human trafficking
While these statistics can be easily found online and may look like “just numbers” or even be read over quickly we are talking about our fellow human beings. People that are suffering, being abused and even being killed.
How high do the statistics have to grow before it starts to matter, before we take it serious? What if its just one? What if that one was your mom, dad or child, what if it was your brother or sister? Would it be more important to you then? What would you be willing to do or sacrifice to address the issue? How long would it take before you took action?
That’s what we are talking about, that’s why I’m walking… EVERYONE MATTERS TO SOMEONE.
I’m walking in hopes to start conversations with real everyday people, find out what they are passionate about and find ways to encourage one another to make our world a better place to live.
I’ve been asked about what organizations that I support or endorse. That list will always be evolving, so I’m happy to discuss where my heart is and also help you to find what charities or causes fit your passions. We will also look at ways to encourage action, talking about something doesn’t necessarily produce a solution.
A surprising number of people have expressed interest in walking with me and I say ABSOLUTELY YES! Individuals, businesses, groups, whoever wants to for that matter. Please know that this will always remain a walk, I will repeat that as many times as needed! No marching, No movements, just people loving other people!!
This is all very new to me so I look forward to the evolution of what it will become. I look forward to meeting all the interesting and unique individuals that my path will cross. I am very excited for the personal growth that I will experience; I am stepping out in faith and trusting My God to open doors and move mountains!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, thank you for your support, encouragement and prayers. This is our journey together so please get involved! Stay tuned to the blog as I’ll be updating often and remember. YOU ARE AWESOME!
PEACE and LOVE
